VINTAGE FRENCH LOUIS XV PARQUETRY EXT. DINING SUITE,6 CHAIRS in COLEBEE, New South Wales for sale
Beautiful Vintage French Louis XV style 7 piece dining suite, consisting of large extension dining table and six (6) matching chairs in solid oak, not veneer. This terrific set is definitely vintage, almost antique, and we would date the suite to c1920. It is also a genuine matching set, with identical carving and legs on both the table and the chairs.
The table features an attractive surface of parquetry inlays. It has deep, tasteful carving to the top of the four cabriole legs, and an attractive carved skirt with central shell and rosette design. The table, which is in beautiful order, measures 150cm long when not extended - a comfortable 6-seater which would suit most families. With the two end extensions pulled out, the table extends to 254cm in length, and can easily seat 8-10 people for special occasions. The extension sections have parquetry tops, and a simple slide in/out mechanism that is working well. The table measues 119cm wide.
A matching set of 6 dining chairs compliments the table. The chairs are ladder-back in style and have solid rush seating. They are strong, and durable. The chairs are attractively constructed with the same tall cabriole legs, terminating in a snail foot- identical to the table - Very chich and very French!! The seating is in very good condition, with just the usual slight "drop" in the centre of the seating due to use. Of virtually no consequence, structurally! The chairs measure 97cm high and have a seat width of 44.5cm..
The whole dining suite is in lovely vintage condition. There are no major faults to any of the pieces of the suite. As with all quality antique and vintage furniture, age-appropriate wear and character marks should be expected.
Overall a stunning set which is both attractive and highly functional for family life.
